By Dr. Isam Sidig
The emergence of COVID-19 led to a global search for immune-boosting remedies rooted in nature. In Sudan, the Ministry of Health issued a national treatment protocol that included hibiscus and baobab—two ingredients celebrated for their high vitamin C content. However, as a long-time advocate and researcher of Sudan’s indigenous superfoods, I was surprised to see that Gum Arabic, known locally as Al-Manna and Talh, was absent from this protocol.
Gum Arabic, the exudate of Acacia trees found abundantly in the Sudanese Savanna, is the richest known natural source of prebiotic fiber—comprising over 85% of its dry weight. Prebiotics are essential food for probiotic bacteria that support immune function, digestion, and fiber metabolism. Remarkably, the only food richer in natural prebiotics is human breast milk.
As the founder of Savanna Ltd. (1993), I had already led several pioneering clinical studies in collaboration with distinguished Sudanese and international scientists. Together with Dr. Lamis Khaddam and others, we explored the use of Al-Manna for Sickle Cell Anemia, an autoimmune disease. With Dr. Rasha Abu Gasim, we extended these studies to diabetes. Under the brand name Safast, Al-Manna was also clinically tested for colon cancer in animals, in collaboration with Prof. Lang of Tuebingen University (Germany), Prof. Omayma Dahab, and Prof. Amal M. Saeed of the University of Khartoum.
Building on this body of research, I developed a unique nutritional formulation combining Al-Manna, Talh, and Baobab—three wholly natural and edible components native to Sudan’s unique savanna ecosystem. I co-founded a company called Savanna Life, where we processed these ingredients using my patented ZeroProcessing method, which preserves the natural integrity and nutritional profile of each component.
We named the resulting blend Savanna3in1—a groundbreaking fusion of two SuperFoods (Al-Manna & Talh) and one SuperFruit (Baobab). This innovative powder blend represents a harmonious convergence of nature, tradition, and science.
Encouraged by promising results and with the support of Dr. Lamis and Dr. Rasha, we proposed a clinical trial on the use of Al-Manna for COVID-19. Regrettably, the Sudanese Ministry of Health did not approve the study. Nonetheless, a preliminary study on Savanna3in1 was later conducted by Prof. Omayma Sabir in collaboration with Dr. Ahmed Rashma at a Malaysian university. Dr. Rashma published the findings after the pandemic subsided.
Initially distributed through two pharmacies in Khartoum as a trial, we had planned to expand Savanna3in1’s availability to supermarkets following the Ramadan fasting season. However, the outbreak of civil war on April 15, 2023, abruptly halted all operations. I was forced to flee Sudan—alongside nearly half the population—and leave behind our manufacturing facilities and inventory of Savanna3in1 along with thirteen other products derived from Sudan’s Five Immunity & Digestion Supers:
The UK granted me refugee status, as it was the only country for which I held a five-year multiple-entry visa, unused for four years. I arrived in the UK with only a personal supply of Savanna3in1 and Savanna Millet. These two natural products—prepared as powder and flour—have remained my primary sources of nourishment for the past five years.
I remain proud to have been the first to introduce Sudan’s SuperFood (Al-Manna & Talh) into pharmacies and supermarkets as a prebiotic supplement as early as 2006, and later, to pioneer the inclusion of SuperCereal Millet in Sudanese supermarkets in 2020.
Now, in London, I am working on rebranding Savanna3in1 as a Healthy, Tasty, and Fast food solution—easy to consume, ethically produced, and completely free from UltraProcessing, unlike most contemporary food manufacturing methods. This also led to the concept of MilletRicing, a novel approach to millet preparation that preserves its nutritional integrity while making it more versatile and palatable.
My mission aligns strongly with public health priorities. The recent announcement by Diabetes UK—that one in five people in the UK suffers from diabetes—underscores the urgent need for preventive nutrition. I believe that the answer lies in sustainable, natural, and minimally processed foods. I strongly invite health-conscious investors and organizations to explore the Three-Super Combination of SuperFood, SuperCereal, and SuperFruit.
The Sudanese Savanna is the world’s only soil ecosystem capable of producing this powerful trio, and ZeroProcessing is the only method that preserves their health benefits without compromising environmental sustainability.
My work is inspired by a concept I call "OneNess" of Food, rooted in the Qur’anic philosophy of Tayyib (pure, wholesome food), and affirmed by references in the Bible and Torah—particularly in the case of Al-Manna, which has been recognized across faiths as a divine food.
In 2019, I met Mr. Michael from Canada at a conference in Dubai. He strongly encouraged me to document this vision and supported the creation of an educational platform called SupersHub.com, featuring the Rhino logo—a symbol of strength and resilience, and once the national emblem of Sudan before decades of environmental degradation and agricultural sabotage.
Today, the Sudanese savanna, once home to flourishing forests of SuperFruits and SuperFoods, lies endangered. Millet, the gluten-free SuperCereal that once sustained millions, has been largely replaced by wheat as part of what I believe is a “Savage Wheat Trap”—an industrial conspiracy that continues to displace traditional, healthy diets.
As I continue my journey from Khartoum to London, I carry with me the vision of reviving indigenous nutrition, empowering global health, and restoring dignity to displaced communities through food sovereignty and scientific innovation.
Dear Friends and Supporters, We are reaching out with an urgent plea for humanitarian assistance in both cash and kind. The people of Sudan are facing an unprecedented crisis, with 25 million individuals currently suffering from hunger, famine, starvation, and the devastating impacts of floods. The situation is dire, and immediate action is required to save lives. We are specifically requesting donations of gum arabic and millet seeds. These items are crucial for several reasons:
1. Gum Arabic and Millet Seeds: Millet seeds can be boiled like rice, requiring minimal fuel for cooking. They can also be ground into flour to make bread. Gum arabic does not require any processing, making it an ideal food source in these challenging times.
2. Simplicity and Efficiency: Given that many factories and bakeries have been vandalized, these food items are essential as they do not rely on complex processing or extensive resources to prepare.
3. Universal Food: Gum arabic and millet are versatile and nutritious foods that can sustain both the poor and the rich. They are truly "Oneness" foods that can unite and nourish the entire population.
In addition to requesting these donations, we are calling for a global embargo on the export of gum arabic and millet from Sudan until the end of 2025. This measure is necessary to ensure that these vital resources remain within the country to support the starving population. The warring parties in Sudan show no intention of halting this devastating conflict, which we refer to as the "Apathy War." It is up to the people of Sudan, not their partisan politicians or the outside world, to save their country. By relying on gum arabic and millet, the Sudanese people can demonstrate to the world how these "InnerFuels" can combat lifestyle diseases and sustain life in the face of adversity. We must act now to save the lives of millions. Your support and generosity can make a significant difference in this critical time. Thank you for your attention and assistance. Sincerely, Dr. Isam Sidig
SupersHub Inc. was founded by Dr. Isam Sidig, a distinguished Sudanese scientist and entrepreneur, renowned for his pioneering work in the field of Gum Arabic processing. Dr. Sidig holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, UK, and is widely recognized as the "Godfather of Gum Arabic."
As the first to introduce ZeroFoodProcessing techniques for Gum Arabic, Dr. Sidig revolutionized the industry by transforming it into natural prebiotic powder, unlocking new avenues for its utilization. His visionary leadership has propelled Supershub Inc. to the forefront of innovation in natural dietary supplements.
Sudan, the home country of Dr. Sidig, boasts an unparalleled abundance of natural resources, hosting approximately 96% of the world's forest reserves of Acacia Senegal, known as Gum Arabic Manna in religious scriptures. Additionally, it encompasses around 80% of Acacia Seyal forests, referred to as Gum Arabic Talha in the Quran.
Dr. Sidig's journey in advocating for domestic Gum Arabic processing began in 1989 with the establishment of a public company named Investment House. Despite the immense potential of the project in job creation and foreign earnings, the government's reluctance to provide necessary concessions prompted Dr. Sidig to relocate to London, UK.
After 28 years, fueled by unwavering determination, Dr. Sidig resurrected his vision by conceptualizing Supershub Inc. Yet, the resurgence of conflict thwarted his aspirations, leading him back to London in May 2023. Undeterred by challenges, Dr. Sidig resolved to establish the company in the UK, with aspirations to resume Gum Arabic processing operations within Sudan's forest belt once peace is restored.
SupersHub Inc. remains committed to advancing Dr. Sidig's legacy by harnessing cutting-edge technologies and fostering sustainable development within Sudan and beyond. Through strategic partnerships and innovative solutions, we aspire to empower local communities and contribute to the socioeconomic prosperity of the regions we serve.
